Mentorship
We offer 3-month long mentorship programs, pairing students with reliable high school student mentors.
Many middle school students enter high school underprepared for the academic, extracurricular, and personal challenges they will face. Students frequently lack clear guidance on course selection, specialized academic programs like IB and AP, fast-tracking opportunities, graduation requirements, extracurriculars and leadership roles, and post-secondary preparation. The lack of structured, clear, and consolidated knowledge leads to confusion, missed opportunities, and a slower adjustment during the crucial first year of high school. Without early preparation, students risk falling behind in academics, under-participating in leadership and extracurricular activities, and entering Grade 9 without the confidence or awareness needed to make informed decisions about their futures. This is especially true for immigrants and first-generation students. For instance, 2.4 million immigrants arrive in the U.S. each year, including many school-age children. In King County, Washington, immigrants make up 25% of the population—students face challenges like learning English and understanding their options in education.
